Fully Welded RHS Frame Steel Sheds
SteelChief offers premium steel frame sheds that are a great option for exposed areas and larger structures. Our premium steel frame sheds integrate a fully welded internal RHS (Rectangular Hollow Section) frame made from 25mm x 25mm steel beams.
While all of SteelChief’s sheds meet the R4 Wind Standard, our steel frame sheds bring the additional strength that’s needed for areas particularly exposed to wind, as well as for larger structures. Combining a steel frame with heavier corrugated sheeting will offer the greatest strength.
When do you need a steel frame shed?
Most backyard sheds don’t need a steel frame. SteelChief’s standard steel sheds, corrugated steel sheds, and timber sheds offer more than enough strength and durability for most situations. However, if any of the following apply to you, you may want to consider upgrading to a steel-framed shed:
- your backyard is particularly exposed to wind,
- you are installing your shed in an open area or paddock
- your structure is greater than 40sqm
Additionally, if you require a roller door, you’ll need to upgrade to a steel frame shed in order to support the additional load.
Partial Steel Frame Shed
If you’re looking for a compromise, SteelChief does offer the option to integrate a steel frame only on the door (Steel Clad Door) and opening of your shed, rather than the entire frame. In addition to making for a sturdier door, a Steel Clad Door marginally improves the rigidity of the entire structure.
By adding a steel frame to your shed, you’re certainly increasing the cost. However, you’re also increasing the strength and durability of your shed. Therefore, for certain applications and conditions, cost-performance over the lifetime of the shed is higher.
