Colours & Cladding
SteelChief offers 10 standard colours plus Zinc, the full Colorbond range as a custom option, and two cladding profiles — Corrugated and Deep Rib. The questions below cover colour choices and the differences between the two profiles.
What colours can I have?
10 standard colours plus Zinc. The shades will look familiar - we colour-match to the names you may already know, we just use our own.
| Our name | Colour-match to Colorbond® |
|---|---|
| Ebony | Night Sky |
| Monolith | Monument |
| Slate Grey | Woodland Grey |
| Armour Grey | Windspray |
| Mist Green | Pale Eucalypt |
| Gull Grey | Shale Grey |
| Birch | Dune |
| Merino | Paper Bark |
| Smooth Cream | Classic Cream |
| Off White | Surfmist |
All 10 colours are the same price. Zinc (un-painted steel, silver-grey) is a separate option and is priced lower than the colour range.
Printed brochures and on-screen swatches are approximate. For final colour decisions, especially on darker shades or when matching an existing building, we would strongly recommend looking at the actual sample. Visit a showroom or distributor if you can, or ask the sales team about having physical samples sent out.

Can you match a specific colour I've been told to look at?
Yes - if you have been recommended a particular shade or want to match the colour of your existing house, roof or fence, we can work with you to find the closest fit.
If you have a Colorbond® colour name in mind, check the colour-match table in “What colours can I have?” above - most familiar shades line up with one of our 10 standards.
For everything else: send through a photo or bring a sample to one of our showrooms or distributors. We will suggest the best match from our 10 standard colours.
If none of the 10 standard colours is a close enough match, custom colour-matches are available on corrugated sheds at a 10% premium - your sales contact will confirm availability before quoting.

Can I have different colours on the walls, door and roof?
Yes - mix and match across walls, door and roof at no extra cost. Popular combinations include:
- Slate Grey walls and roof with a Smooth Cream door (contrast feature door)
- Monolith walls, Slate Grey roof, Smooth Cream door
- Smooth Cream throughout (uniform light colour)
- Walls and roof matched with a feature-colour door
Can I get a colour outside your standard 10?
Yes. For shades outside our standard 10, we supply the steel in genuine Colorbond® colours at +10% on the corrugated shed price - custom shades are corrugated only, not deep rib.

Corrugated vs Deep Rib - what's the difference?
Two profiles, suited to different looks and budgets:
| Feature | Corrugated | Deep Rib |
|---|---|---|
| Profile style | Round corrugated waves - classic Aussie look | Angular ribs with flat pans - modern / industrial |
| Profile depth | 20mm | 30mm |
| Cost | Higher | Lower |
| Colour range | Standard 10 + custom (+10%) | Standard 10 only |
| Horizontal cladding | Available (steel frame required) | Not available |
| Skylights | Solasafe polycarbonate | Ampelite fibreglass |
| Best for | Rural, coastal, heritage, residential, contemporary homes | Commercial, industrial, modern homes |
Corrugated takes more work to make - the roll machine runs slower forming 10 ribs per sheet instead of 5, there are more fixings per sheet, and we produce it in lower volumes. That is why it sits at a premium. Customers usually choose it for the distinctive traditional look or to match an existing house.
Deep Rib is the more economical of the two and gives a modern industrial profile. If you want maximum value and an architectural feel, deep rib is usually the right answer.
