Timber Sheds
SteelChief timber sheds offer a natural alternative to steel, built from treated timber and supplied with a raised wooden floor as standard. Available in pine or weatherboard construction, pine sheds showcase the character of natural timber, while weatherboard sheds provide a cleaner, pre-primed finish that’s well suited to custom paint colours. With skillion and gable roof styles to suit boundary or freestanding installations, timber sheds are a versatile option for storage, workshops, and multi-purpose backyard spaces.

Two Timber Profiles to Choose From
SteelChief timber sheds are available in two distinct wall profiles: Pine Timber and Weatherboard. Both are built from treated timber and include a raised wooden floor as standard, but each offers a different look and finish to suit how you want your shed to sit in your backyard.
Pine Timber
Pine timber sheds highlight the natural character of wood. The boards show texture and variation, giving the shed a warmer, more traditional appearance that blends easily into garden settings. Pine can be painted if desired, but many customers choose to let it weather naturally over time. It’s a popular choice for those who prefer an honest, timber-forward look with plenty of flexibility for internal fit-outs.
Weatherboard
Weatherboard sheds offer a cleaner, more uniform finish. The boards are pre-primed, making them particularly well suited to custom paint colours and a more consistent exterior appearance. While still very much a timber shed, weatherboard is often chosen by customers who want their shed to feel more finished or to visually tie in with nearby buildings.
Why Do People Choose Timber Sheds?
There are a number of reasons to choose a timber shed rather than a steel shed.
Visual Appeal
Wood generally offers a more natural, rustic look than steel. Since any structure on your property can have either a positive (or negative! ) impact on your home’s valuation, going with a shed design that complements the other structures on your property is an important consideration.
Sturdier feel
Although steel structures are in fact stronger pound-for-pound, wood sheds have the benefit of weighing significantly more. This gives them a sturdier feel and makes the interior quieter and, for many, more comfortable.
More Interior Customisation Options
Timber structures are easier to work with than steel. For example, hanging fall finishes like sheet rock or plywood, or adding shelving and built-in cabinetry is generally harder to do after the fact with steel sheds.
SteelChief’s timber sheds are built with internal studs, making it easy to install insulation and internal lining boards (that can also be painted to suit your tastes). With an insulated shed, you’ll be comfortable year round, making timber a good choice for workshops, man caves, she sheds, and art studios.
Of course, like all of SteelChief’s sheds, our timber sheds can be customised with a huge range of addons like a verandah, a skylight, extra windows, and more. Browse your options in our Features section, or contact a SteelChief expert to discuss your project today!
Built to Last in Australian Conditions
Proudly designed and manufactured in Australia, SteelChief timber sheds are constructed using treated pine that complies with the AS 1604 standard for preservative treatment. This ensures the timber is prepared for long-term outdoor use and suited to Australian climates.
This treatment helps the timber:
- Resist termites, decay, and rot
- Perform in high heat and moisture conditions
- Maintain structural integrity over time
All timber sheds are supplied with a raised wooden floor on treated bearers as standard, helping protect the shed from ground moisture while creating a warmer, more usable interior.
Custom Floors For Slopes
For sites that are sloped or uneven, a raised sub-floor system can be added. This system uses additional treated timber supports to elevate and level the shed, allowing installation on angled terrain while increasing airflow and ground clearance where required.
