Pricing & Warranty

Most of what affects price is configuration — size, construction system, cladding, doors, windows, extras. The questions below cover how pricing is put together, our 15-year warranty, and what sets a SteelChief shed apart from a flat-pack.

How does a shed get priced?

A SteelChief shed price is built up from a few inputs:

  1. Base shed - dimensions, construction system (heavy duty / steel frame / timber), cladding profile (corrugated / deep rib / horizontal corrugated), wall height. Base prices are quoted per job, not published - every shed is configured to the customer's specs.
  2. Custom-size premium (if not on the standard size grid) - +$235 to $590 depending on tier.
  3. Add-ons with published prices - windows, doors, skylights ($40), whirlybirds ($240), roller doors ($1,195 to $1,995), glass sliding doors ($1,650), T-Handle ($75), gutters, etc. We have listed the headline ones throughout this FAQ.
  4. Permit and consent fees (if applicable) - turnkey permit ($2,500 VIC / $1,499 QLD), drawings + Certificate of Compliance ($200 + $300 in NSW/SA), Report and Consent / Siting Relaxation, build-over-easement, Section 173.
  5. Slab + delivery + installation - all quoted per job.

The sales team will work through these with you on a quote - most customers ask for two or three variants side-by-side (different sizes, with vs without certain add-ons) before deciding.

What does the 15-year warranty cover?

SteelChief's 15-year warranty applies to our steel sheds - heavy duty and steel frame construction.

Timber sheds carry separate warranty terms - the sales team will walk you through them on request.

The full warranty document for your shed is supplied with your quote. We would recommend reading it before committing; if you have specific questions about coverage for your situation, talk to the sales team and they will walk you through the relevant terms.

What makes SteelChief different from a flat-pack shed?

Three things, all structural rather than marketing:

  1. Pre-assembled panels. Every shed ships as pre-built wall and roof panels rather than a box of individual parts. For DIY customers, that means an install that takes a few hours rather than days of building from scratch. For installation customers, it is why we can offer efficient delivery + install. A SteelChief shed costs more than a flat-pack because that price reflects the factory assembly work that has already been done.
  2. BaseSmart base flashing. Standard on every vertical-clad steel shed. The L-shape lets debris and water fall away from the wall rather than sitting against it the way U-shaped base channels do on most other sheds, which is what causes the base of those sheds to rust through over time. We are not aware of another shed manufacturer using this base detail.
  3. N3 wind rating on slab. Engineered to N3 when installed on a concrete slab - significantly higher than the N1/N2 ratings typical of imported flat-pack sheds. Plus a real 15-year warranty on our steel sheds.

The way to think about it: a SteelChief shed and a flat-pack at a similar headline price are not equivalent products. The price reflects the assembly, the structural difference, the corrosion protection, and the engineering.
